Dave Bishop, a renowned figure in the entertainment industry, has been enstooled as Nana Ekow Amu I, the Development Chief of Nyanfeku Ekroful in the Central Region of Ghana. His installation on December 30, 2023, marks a new chapter in his mission to drive impactful projects in Ghana.
As the director and president of GoingToGhana.com, Bishop has been a key advocate for strengthening ties between the U.S. and Africa through innovative travel and cultural exchange experiences. Among his flagship initiatives is the "Mother’s Day in the Motherland" event, a week-long celebration in Accra that honors the love, resilience, and strength of mothers. This luxurious and culturally immersive experience seeks to empower mothers and foster meaningful connections.
Another landmark event is "Motown in the Motherland," scheduled for June 15–22, 2025. This Juneteenth celebration will spotlight the cultural synergy between Detroit’s Motown community and Ghana’s rich heritage. The event promises to unite artisans, healthcare providers, import-export professionals, real estate investors, and musical talents from Detroit, creating a platform for cultural exchange and collaboration.
Bishop’s plans extend beyond events, with significant developmental initiatives underway. One key project is the construction of a ten-bedroom maternity ward in the Central Region. This facility aims to improve maternal healthcare by providing a safe, nurturing environment for mothers and their newborns.
He is also commissioning boreholes to provide clean water to communities, as well as building an eight-bedroom teachers' quarters to enhance living conditions for educators, enabling them to focus on delivering quality education. In addition, Bishop is spearheading the creation of playgrounds for children in the region, recognizing the importance of play in fostering holistic development.
In a bid to support first-time visitors to Ghana, Bishop plans to open a full-service concierge office at Kotoka International Airport. This initiative will ensure that visitors have access to essential resources, making their experience in Ghana seamless and welcoming.
Social justice is another cornerstone of Bishop’s vision. He plans to launch "Good Deed Day" in Accra this September, a day dedicated to feeding the homeless, uplifting underserved communities, and inspiring acts of kindness across Africa. Furthermore, he is advocating for prison reforms, emphasizing the need for rehabilitation programs that provide job opportunities and support systems for incarcerated individuals.
Dave Bishop’s commitment to Ghana is set to deepen with his official Ghanaian citizenship in September 2024. This milestone will enable him to further bridge the U.S. and Ghana, fostering collaboration and development between the two nations.
Through his visionary leadership and philanthropic efforts, Dave Bishop, now Nana Ekow Amu I, is transforming lives and creating opportunities for growth and progress in Ghana and beyond.
