The staff of the Jospong Group of Companies (JGC) and Zoomlion Ghana Limited (ZGL) held their Annual Thanksgiving Service for 2024 with a vibrant peace evangelism walk on Thursday, November 28. Under the theme “Walk for Peace & Win Souls for Christ,” the event sought to promote peace and unity ahead of Ghana’s December 7 elections while spreading the Gospel of Christ.
The walk began at JGC’s premises and covered the School Junction section of the Ashley Botwe-Nmai-Dzorn road in Accra. Staff members enthusiastically engaged pedestrians, residents, and motorists, sharing messages of Christ’s love, salvation, and the importance of peaceful coexistence.
Speaking to the media, Florence Larbi, Chief Operating Officer for Environment and Cluster Sanitation at JGC, highlighted the significance of the event as a dual expression of gratitude and advocacy for peace.
“This occasion is a time of gratitude to God for His faithfulness and the peace we have enjoyed as a nation. Jospong Group is committed to spreading this message of unity and harmony across Ghana,” she said.
Mrs. Larbi further encouraged Ghanaians to sustain the nation’s stability, calling on all to play active roles in ensuring peace during the elections.
Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Sophia Kudjordji, echoed similar sentiments, noting the importance of peace in national development. She emphasized the annual peace walk as not only an expression of gratitude but also a public call to action for all Ghanaians.
“With the upcoming elections, it is our collective responsibility to ensure that peace and stability prevail before, during, and after the process,” she stated.
The event featured an inspiring sermon delivered by Bishop Tackie-Yarboi of Victory Bible Church, who urged participants to embrace their unique paths and resist societal comparisons. He emphasized intentional living and trusting in God’s plan as key to inner peace and spiritual growth.
“True peace and fulfillment come from living a Christ-like life, not from pursuing fleeting trends or ideals often amplified on social media,” Bishop Tackie-Yarboi remarked.
Additionally, DSP Shaibu Alhassan Sabi, Lakeside District Commander, assured the public of the police’s preparedness to ensure safety and order during the elections. He emphasized the role of personal responsibility in maintaining peace and urged citizens to prioritize unity over political differences.
“The first line of security is personal responsibility, followed by the support of immediate family. If these layers fail, promptly contact the police or other security services for assistance,” DSP Sabi advised.
He reiterated the police’s commitment to upholding peace throughout the electoral process, stating, “We are fully prepared to ensure peace and order during the 2024 elections.”
The peace walk demonstrated the commitment of JGC, ZGL, and their partners to fostering unity, gratitude, and spiritual upliftment in Ghana, setting an example for all citizens during this critical election period.
