NEIP CEO Applauds President Akufo-Addo's Agenda 111 Healthcare Initiative
The Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship & Innovation Programme (NEIP), Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, has commended President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for his commitment to expanding healthcare access across Ghana through the Agenda 111 hospitals project. In a Facebook post on Thursday, November 28, Mr. Nkansah praised the President's dedication to ensuring every district benefits from this ambitious initiative.

According to Nkansah, the Agenda 111 project highlights President Akufo-Addo’s inclusive approach to national development, contrasting it with the policies of former President John Dramani Mahama. He claimed that Mahama’s focus was primarily on constructing a few large hospitals in Accra, leaving other regions underserved. In contrast, the NEIP CEO emphasized that President Akufo-Addo's vision ensures healthcare facilities are distributed equitably across the country, bridging gaps in regional healthcare infrastructure.

"President Akufo-Addo has ensured every district is getting a hospital, whereas former President Mahama built three or four large hospitals in Greater Accra," Nkansah said, referencing projects such as the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC), which he noted was initiated under President Mills.

Nkansah underscored the significance of the Agenda 111 initiative as a milestone in Ghana’s healthcare and infrastructure development. He highlighted that numerous hospitals under the project are already complete, with many others under construction. The CEO also pointed out the economic benefits of the project, asserting that it has helped absorb liquidity in the economy and contributed to economic stability by creating jobs and stimulating local industries.

The NEIP CEO further stated that the government's healthcare infrastructure expansion is a testament to President Akufo-Addo’s dedication to improving the living standards of Ghanaians. "The difference is not even close," he remarked, adding that the President’s initiative touches every part of the country and not just urban centers like Accra.

Nkansah’s comments come as the Akufo-Addo administration continues to tout its achievements in the healthcare sector. The Agenda 111 project, which aims to construct 111 hospitals across Ghana, has been a centerpiece of the government’s development agenda. Despite criticisms from some quarters regarding delays in the pace of construction, government officials have maintained that the project will significantly enhance access to healthcare services nationwide.

The initiative aligns with the administration’s broader vision to decentralize healthcare services, reduce the burden on existing facilities, and improve the overall quality of care available to Ghanaians.

While supporters of the initiative highlight its transformative potential, critics argue that the project’s progress has been slower than initially promised. Nonetheless, Nkansah’s remarks reinforce the government’s stance that Agenda 111 is a vital investment in the nation’s future and a critical step toward achieving equitable healthcare delivery across all regions of Ghana.
