Seven doctors from the University Hospital of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) have been inducted as members of the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons in a ceremony held in Accra. This achievement highlights the hospital's commitment to providing exceptional, patient-centered care through highly skilled health professionals.
The seven specialists include Dr. Eric Kojo Nsa Oduro in Family Medicine, Dr. Vitalis Saadaare in Family Medicine, Dr. Francis Kobina Baidoo in General Surgery, Dr. Raymond Addo-Tham in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Dr. Phillip Frimpong in Oral Pathology, Dr. (Mrs) Betty Nkansah Osei-Mensah in Paediatrics, and Dr. (Mrs) Brenda Abena Ampah in Radiology.
Among the seven, five are permanent staff members of the hospital, while two completed their postgraduate training at the institution. Dr. Nana Kwame Ayisi-Boateng, Director of University Health Services, expressed pride in the achievement, noting that this is the highest number of specialists the hospital has produced in a single year.
He also took the opportunity to recognize his predecessor, Dr. Osei Kwaku Wusu-Ansah, for creating opportunities for the doctors to pursue postgraduate training and for overseeing the hospital’s accreditation in Family Medicine, General Surgery, and Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Dr. Ayisi-Boateng encouraged the new specialists to apply their knowledge and skills to train junior colleagues and improve patient care within the university community.
